Recognizing the increasing relevance of social media and other forms of electronic communication, the PLA established the Communications Committee in June 2014. Working with a professional media consultant, Aliro Marketing, the committee began to develop a presence on Facebook, Instagram and Nextdoor Local Pages.
The widely popular PLA Newsletter and periodic PLA E-blasts continued to share news and reports about the organization. Many longtime members of the PLA voiced a desire to retain the newsletter in print form, while others were receptive to electronic distribution. The PLA will continue both forms for the immediate future with the plan of progressively transitioning to mainly electronic communication.
In the latter half of 2014 the PLA decided to explore the prospect of redesigning and implementing an entirely new website. The Communications Committee in collaboration with a professional website designer is currently creating this website. We expect the site to be completed and live online by the Fall of 2015.
The County of San Diego, through a generous grant, has assisted the PLA in financing this new website. We are extremely appreciative of the support offered by the County.
Currently the Communications Committee is comprised of six active members. These PLA volunteers will complete the website development and are committed to adding content on a regular basis to the website, newsletter, social media sites and E-blasts.
We invite other members of the community who are motivated to contribute to these communication projects to contact us and become part of this exciting and rewarding work.
We welcome your participation and support.
