August 3 - Pork Chops
The Mean Green Team was out in the heat working in the Pork Chops area. We attacked the weeds and trimmed the plantings, but we didn't finish due to the heat. We will return in a couple of weeks to finish up.
Afterwards, we met up at Peet's for refreshments and discussion.
Come join us on Friday mornings at 9am.
August 10 - Private Residence - Julian
The Mean Green Team had a field trip to Julian on Friday. Nancy Peckham, one of the people who purchased the services of the Mean Green Team at last year's PLA Annual Dinner, had asked us to do a special project at her ranch in Julian. They are going to have a wedding there in October and asked us if we would like to weed, trim, plant small plants and mulch in the front-main areas near the house.
As you can see from the photos we accepted her offer and made quick work of things before the heat arrived. Thanks to everyone who helped make this project a success.
August 17 - Pork Chops
We finished up at the Pork Chops location Friday morning. The usual trimming and weeding made short work of everything.
Afterwards we went to Peet's for refreshments.
Next week we will be out at Ed's Triangle. Stop by to help us. If you can't do that and you are passing by, honk your horn supporting the Mean Green Team.
August 24 - Ed's Triangle
The Mean Green Team was out in force this morning at the Ed's Triangle location. Along with the usual weeding and trimming, there was also a significant amount of trash to be picked up. So just another normal day for the Mean Greeners. We were also joined for awhile by people from Total Green Landscaping. Total Green contracts with the PLA to assist with maintenance at several of our locations.
August 31 - Submarine Memorials
The Mean Green Team worked at the Submarine Memorials this Friday morning. Weeding was the main task. When that was finished we continued to pull weeds in the beds surrounding the Rose Garden. A small group of Mean Greeners worked in the Rose Garden attending to the irrigation system. We are replacing the pop up bubblers with stationary bubblers. The pop ups have started to fail causing the roses not to get the needed water.
Question: - How many Mean Green members does it take to change a sprinkler? Hint - the answer is sometimes more than one but less than three.
After our hard work, we met up at Moniker's General Store in Liberty Station for refreshments and discussion.
