December 7 - Submarine Memorial Commemoration
Today the Mean Green Team along with the 52 Boat Memorial Veterans paid tribute to the submariners from World War II in the first Commemoration of the Submarine Memorials at Liberty Station. This inaugural event happened to occur on the anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor and we couldn't have asked for more perfect weather.
We were honored to have representatives from Naval Base Point Loma at this special commemoration, along with active duty, retired submariners and their families. Wreaths were placed at each memorial along with the American flag.
We would like to thank everyone who helped make this event possible.
The next time you walk past the memorials, stop to read about these heroic men.
You can view additional photos of the Submarine Memorials from photographer Jeff Fischbeck here.

December 14 - Ed's Triangle
We worked at Ed's Triangle this cloudy cool morning. Lots of palm tree shoots were pulled up along with the normal trimming and trash pickup. The aloes are starting to bloom and we also see one of the bladderpod plants that were planted recently is thriving.
Afterwards the group met up at Peet's for refreshments and discussion.
December 21 - Dewey
The Mean Green Team spent this foggy Friday morning cleaning up the plantings outside Dewey Elementary. It was the usual trash cleanup, picking up the palm tree branches and weeding.
We want to give a big shout out to Gary at Dewey who allowed us to use the dumpsters at the school to dispose of everything we cleaned up. Thank you Gary!
Afterwards the Mean Green Team was invited to Al and Dotsie Baber's house for refreshments and discussion. Thank you Al and Dotsie for hosting us today.
Happy Holidays everyone.
December 28 - The Village
The Village was clean and virtually weed free after 24 volunteers gathered to work today. You can see from the pictures the before and after the Mean Green Team descends on weeds. You can also see we find interesting things when we are cleaning up.
A tasty lunch at The Fish Shop followed. Thank you Billy Ramirez (our sponsor), Larry, Jen and staff at the Fish Shop for the super treat. You were very kind and generous to us.
Come join us on Friday mornings at 9am. If you can't join us, but you see us, give us a honk and wave to us.
Happy New Year everyone!
