Point Loma native, Wendy Rosenthal, is the daughter of Allen and Judy Garrett. Judy is a past PLA Board member. Wendy and her mom were in MADCAPS together, and now Wendy and her daughter, Jessa, carry on that tradition. Wendy is also a member of Point Loma Assembly, and Rady Children’s Hospital La Playa Unit.
Wendy and family have lived from coast to coast, with three stops in Chicago. She volunteered in communities along the way, and returned with her two children to Point Loma about six years ago.
Wendy works as a lender for Moment Mortgage and has previous experience in real estate and hospitality.
While living in Chicago, Wendy visited Celeste Trepte at her summer home in Michigan. She and the PLA founding member talked about Point Loma and the Association, and Wendy says, “All I wanted to do was return home and be involved, too. And here I am.”
Andrea Schlageter’s heart stayed here while she attended Boston University, earning a degree in Political Science and International Relations. While back east, she was also field organizer for a mayoral campaign and research intern for a congressional campaign committee. At an educational startup company Andrea worked in sales and marketing and developed training materials to help achieve growth goals.
She says, “I’ve spent the better part of my life being grateful that I live in the Point Loma Ocean Beach area. When I was going to school and working in Boston I always knew it would be a matter of time before I was back.”
In addition to volunteering with the PLA, Andrea is the Chair of the Ocean Beach Planning Board. She’s excited to focus on public service, and says, most important to her is, “curating a closer relationship between the Point Loma and Ocean Beach Communities.”
