On Whittier Street in Point Loma…

PLA’s Patti Adams presented our August 2018 Garden Award to the Nicholas Hardwick family at their home.

The Hardwicks moved to this home in 2015 and worked with Vorce Construction on the front of the house and the landscaping.

Yes. It’s that Nick Hardwick – radio star and former center for our San DiegoChargers. After 10+ years on the field (Pro Bowl 2006), and several years on Chargers radio game broadcasts, this is the first year in 15 that Nick’s weekends are not consumed by the NFL. He says it’s a choice made for his family and his health.

A wise man. And so gracious. Never before has accepting our kudos involved taking a knee – and various tools – to install the award.

Drought tolerant, water-wise landscaping is wonderful for the environment. But it can be hard to tap in to. Digging a hole to drive a small wooden stake into dense earth is tough work! But eventually our folksy little wooden award was firmly planted.
